High atop a sunny ridge on beautiful Mayne Island in the southern Gulf Islands of BC, Fernhill B&B awaits your discovery. If you are looking for the enchanting natural beauty of arbutus-graced bluffs and mossy, ferny forest glens, you’ll find them here on our 4 acre property.

Relaxation comes easily here. You could sit out on the flagstone patio and gaze out over the southern view of “Punch’s” farm and Navy Channel watching the birds soar on the thermals up the cliff face. Maybe you’d prefer to grab your book and curl up on the covered willow swing on the hillside. Or you might be tempted to wander through the lavender patch down to the rock bench by the cliff just to meditate on the wonders of nature. Make your way back down the driveway through the shady woods to the sunny orchard and garden to sit a spell under the spreading canopy of the plum tree or sample the delights growing in the deer-fenced garden. Or if you’re feeling more active, grab a bike and do some exploring on our undulating Mayne Island roads.

A 5 minute walk brings you to Fernhill Center with it’s gift shops, health food store, spa and a great little restaurant. Another 5 minutes walk up Montrose road from here is the entrance to Mount Parke and numerous hiking trails. The views of the Southern Gulf Islands from the top of Mt Parke are truly spectacular.

We have three suites available for you to choose from: two are one-bedroom suites and one is a two-bedroom suite. Each has it’s own private entrance, a full bathroom, and lots of character from the custom woodwork and plank floors to the distinctive furniture and decoration.

You are welcome to enjoy all the comforts of home in the big living room of the main house. A delicious breakfast is served up family style in our big country kitchen or outside on the patio if you prefer. Start off the meal with fresh fruit, yogurt and home-made granola and feed your body and soul with the delectable main course ‘du jour’. There will be some lovely home-made goodies fresh out of our oven to tempt you and juice, coffee and tea of your choice. We use organically-grown produce from our own garden as much as possible and many quality organic local products (eggs, jams) as well. Even the lovely soap we offer you is hand made on Mayne Island.

We accept cash, Visa, and Mastercard.

A 50% deposit is required at time of booking.

This deposit is refundable up to one month before you are booked to stay with us.

Other information

*All of the suites at Fernhill B&B are non-smoking.

*Our rates are based on a minimum 2 night stay during the summer months.
3 night minimum stay on long weekends.

Off season rates are available on request.

*Unless you are traveling by sea plane or private boat, BC Ferries will be your ride to Mayne Island. From Tsawwassen take the Southern Gulf Islands ferry to Village Bay, Mayne Island. Reservations are recommended if you are driving onto the ferry. From Schwartz Bay, take the Gulf Islands ferry to Village Bay. If you wish to walk onto the ferry rather than bringing your car, we would be happy to pick you up at the Village Bay terminal. Please arrange this with us in advance. You can check bcferries.com for schedules and rates.

Driving out of the ferry terminal, turn left and then turn right at the stop sign onto Village Bay Road. Travel Village Bay Road for 2.3 km to the T-intersection in the village. Turn right onto Fernhill Road and drive a few minutes. When you pass Horton Bay Road you are almost there. You will see our sign on the right at 610 Fernhill Rd near the top of the hill.
